Quilling

Quilling, also called paperolles, is a craft technique that consists of rolling, folding and shaping thin strips of paper to create decorative designs.

The basis of quilling is the use of colored strips of paper, generally a few millimeters wide. These strips are rolled around a specific tool called a quilling stylus, which allows you to create tight or loose spirals depending on the desired effect. Once rolled, the shapes obtained are carefully modeled with the fingers or using tweezers to create various elements: drops, hearts, eyes, leaves, scrolls, etc. These elements are then assembled and glued to a support to give life to complex designs.

Quilling can be used for many creations, from greeting cards to decorative paintings, paper jewelry and ornaments for various objects. This technique offers great artistic freedom, as it is possible to play with colors, textures and shapes to obtain unique and elegant designs.

One of the major advantages of quilling is that it requires very little material: paper, a stylus, glue and a clean work surface are enough to get started. However, for more complex creations, there are various tools such as quilling combs, which allow you to create more elaborate designs, or templates to standardize the shapes.
